The final stage of making my lightbar-room as I had it in mind, completing the striping scheme with the blue part!
This proved to be more time-consuming then anticipated, as the blue lines sort of slide in between the reds with a pointed side that should exactly fit. It turned out that not all red lines were precisely 15centimeters wide so unfortunately I had to make some non-precision lines along which the tape was put to the floor in which the blue lines would be painted. Only when you would use a measuring-tape or straight piece of wood you can see it!
Here the tough and most time-consuming part starts all over again, making the outlines for the stripes.
To make sure the blue paint would not go anywhere else than where it is supposed to go, I put some extra protection along the tape by simply adding pieces of printer-paper
After all open parts were covered this way, time to open up the can of blue paint and start the same procedure as with the red lines again, apply a thick layer with a paintbrush, thereafter smooth it out with the roller, but gently this time, no room for errors!
I was kind off worried again that the same thing would happen with the blue as with the red, meaning the small run-throughs of paint underneath the tape, as if it was sweating through the tape. So I decided to wait not too long before removing the tape to prevent any "leaking". First I gently removed the paper-protection, then carefully removed the tape upwards from the floor to prevent any paintdrops falling down from it, hardly a change but better be safe then sorry,
AND HERE ARE THE RESULTS!!!!
Here you have an ambulance
and here is my Ambulance Yellow with striping floor seen from the hallway
Seen from within
From the opposite side
and from a low angle again from the hallway
Next phase is tying up the small strips alongside the floor, with a touch of yellow as well, and thereafter protecting the entire floor with a coating suitable for painted wood.
Nice isn't it?? ;))
Latest addition to this page:
Last year an original reflecting Star of Life was added to the floor, and just
recently a 5-digit recognition code was put to the floor. This decal with 5
digits was found in my Chevy Van G30 ex-ambulance!! what better place than to
put it here!!
